Alerts & Emergencies
Setup requirement
Alerts are location-based — they require a valid address with geocoded coordinates. If weather alerts aren't appearing, start with the troubleshooting guide.
What you'll see
For each active alert in your area we show:
- Alert type, severity, and event window
- The official NWS text
- Plain-English action items specific to the event
Example action items
- Hard freeze: let faucets drip, open cabinet doors under sinks, check pipe insulation on exterior walls.
- High wind / storm: secure loose outdoor items, close windows, check sump pump power.
- Heat advisory: check AC performance, change the HVAC filter, close blinds on sun-facing windows.
- Flood watch: move valuables from the basement, confirm the sump pump is running, know where your main water shutoff is.
Notifications
New alerts trigger a notification when one appears for your area. Go to Settings → Notifications to choose email, push, or in-app delivery.
