What Produces CO
Furnaces, water heaters, gas stoves, fireplaces, generators, cars. CO is odorless and colorless — detectors are your only warning.
Detector Placement
- One on every level of the home
- Near all bedrooms
- Not directly next to gas appliances (false readings)
- Replace CO detectors every 5-7 years
If the Alarm Sounds
- Open windows immediately
- Get everyone outside
- Call 911 from outside
- Do NOT re-enter until cleared by fire department
