What Produces CO

Furnaces, water heaters, gas stoves, fireplaces, generators, cars. CO is odorless and colorless — detectors are your only warning.

Detector Placement

  • One on every level of the home
  • Near all bedrooms
  • Not directly next to gas appliances (false readings)
  • Replace CO detectors every 5-7 years

If the Alarm Sounds

  1. Open windows immediately
  2. Get everyone outside
  3. Call 911 from outside
  4. Do NOT re-enter until cleared by fire department
