Home Fire Extinguisher Guide
Types for Home Use
- ABC (multipurpose): Works on most home fires — wood, liquids, electrical. This is what you want.
- Kitchen (K class): Specifically for cooking oil and grease fires.
Where to Place
Kitchen, garage, near the furnace, and each level of the home. Mount 3.5-5 feet off the floor.
The PASS Method
- Pull the pin
- Aim at the base of the fire
- Squeeze the handle
- Sweep side to side
Maintenance
Check the pressure gauge monthly — it should be in the green zone. Replace or recharge every 6-12 years.
