Garage Door Maintenance Guide

Monthly

Lubricate rollers, hinges, and springs with white lithium grease (not WD-40)
Test the auto-reverse: place a board under the door, it should reverse on contact
Test the photo-eye sensors: wave your foot through the beam while the door is closing

Annual

Tighten all hardware — bolts on tracks, hinges, and brackets
Inspect rollers for wear — nylon rollers last longer than metal
Check the balance: disconnect the opener, lift the door halfway — it should stay put

Springs

NEVER attempt to adjust or replace garage door springs. They are under extreme tension and cause serious injuries every year. Always hire a professional.
