How to Clean Your Range Hood Filter

How to Clean Your Range Hood Filter

Why It Matters

A clogged range hood filter doesn't remove grease and smoke from cooking. Grease buildup is also a fire hazard.

Steps

  1. Remove the mesh filter from the hood
  2. Soak in hot water with dish soap and baking soda for 15 minutes
  3. Scrub with a non-abrasive brush
  4. Rinse and let dry completely before reinstalling

Clean monthly if you cook daily. Replace charcoal filters (in ductless hoods) every 6-12 months.
