How to Winterize Outdoor Faucets

Steps

1. Disconnect all garden hoses
2. Find the indoor shutoff valve for each outdoor faucet
3. Turn off the indoor valve
4. Open the outdoor faucet to drain remaining water
5. Install an insulated faucet cover ($3-$5)

Frost-free hose bibs are designed to prevent freezing but still benefit from having hoses disconnected.
