How to Replace Thermostat Batteries
Signs You Need New Batteries
Low battery indicator on display, blank screen, or the system not responding to temperature changes.
Steps
- Pull the thermostat straight off the wall plate
- Open the battery compartment (usually on the back or side)
- Replace with AA or AAA batteries (check your model)
- Snap the thermostat back onto the wall plate
- Verify the display turns on and settings are correct
Most thermostats need new batteries once a year. Some hardwired models don't use batteries at all.
