How to Replace Thermostat Batteries

How to Replace Thermostat Batteries

Signs You Need New Batteries

Low battery indicator on display, blank screen, or the system not responding to temperature changes.

Steps

  1. Pull the thermostat straight off the wall plate
  2. Open the battery compartment (usually on the back or side)
  3. Replace with AA or AAA batteries (check your model)
  4. Snap the thermostat back onto the wall plate
  5. Verify the display turns on and settings are correct

Most thermostats need new batteries once a year. Some hardwired models don't use batteries at all.
